Lexus NX and LX recalled

Lexus’ redesigned NX and LX SUVs have been recalled due to an issue with the latest generation of the brand’s infotainment system.

“Due to a software issue, the multi-media system may display video images while driving. This can result in driver distraction potentially drawing their attention away from the road,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If the driver is distracted while the vehicle is in motion this will increase the risk of an accident possibly causing serious injury or death.”

While this issue can be fixed via an over-the-air update, such an update won’t be available until June 2022.

If you own an affected vehicle and want to have this issue resolved before then, you’ll need to schedule a time with a Lexus dealership to have this manually fixed, free of charge.

Lexus says this reprogram will take approximately 40 minutes but, depending on the dealer’s work schedule, you may need to make your vehicle available for a longer period of time.

The company says it’ll provide free alternative transport support to owners.

If you have any further questions, you can contact the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 on weekdays from 8am to 6pm.
